A thought About ENERGY STAR

Think about it.

Think about it.

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2008 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 29 million cars — all while saving $19 billion on their utility bills.
For Business
Because a strategic approach to energy management can produce twice the savings — for the bottom line and the environment — as typical approaches, EPA’s ENERGY STAR partnership offers a proven energy management strategy that helps in measuring current energy performance, setting goals, tracking savings, and rewarding improvements.
EPA provides an innovative energy performance rating system which businesses have already used for more than 96,000 buildings across the country. EPA also recognizes top performing buildings with the ENERGY STAR

This is interesting and also heartening to see initiative taken towards energy conservation and an overall environment conscious approach. This reminds me of a video I had seen about houses made in deserts in Australia having old tires on the outside to present the heat from reaching in, solar panels on the outside to create electricity for the house and a complete water recyling system making a single house a self sufficient unit and the person had made several such houses in a single desert.

I wanted to put a link to an article I read this morning, but it looks like I deleted the email with the link in it.
A congressional investigation of the Energy Star program has raised concerns about the possibility of Fraud in the system. An example product they submitted was a gasoline powered alarm clock which received an “Energy Star” label…

My LCD computer monitor had the energy star label on it, but I must admit I don’t really know what it means except that it sounds good and “it’s better then nothing”.

Your comments still give evidence as to the effectiveness of the program however.
